Kim, someone told me if you cut the buds before blooming and put them in water in the fridge, you can take them out one at a time and they will bloom. That is how they make their peonies last longer. My neighbor cuts most of her buds and does that for Memorial Day grave decorating. However, the bush by my mom's headstone will be done blooming long before Memorial Day.
