The Wisdom of Thoreau

  I went to the woods
because I wanted to live deliberately,
to front only the essential facts of life,
and see if I could not learn what it had to teach,
and not, when I came to die,
discover that I have not lived.
Henry David Thoreau

  1. Great quote. I love the woods, they are a great place to go and discover things, including oneself.

  3. It's been so long since I read Thoreau. I have mixed feelings about woods. I'm in awe, but also in fear of something slithering out, or swooping down, or crawling onto me, etc. I do like all the plant life though.
